Initially the company manufactured and assembled only the smaller
models, but now all of these are imported. Some examples include
Escort, Cortina and Mazda's Laser and Telstar from Japan. These
models were adapted according to the Australian market. Until
recently all these models were manufactured in Australia but
now they are imported. Mazda's Laser is an example, which, until
1994's September was produced at a plant at Homebush in Sydney,

Ford Performance Vehicles
Ford Australia even founded an official performance tuning division called Ford Performance Vehicles or FPV in the year 2002 at Melbourne, Australia. This set up came about after Ford Australia joined Pro-Drive owned Tickford in 1991. This partnership produced the original Falcon model of XR6 and XR8. Later in 2000, to counter the Holden Special Vehicles, FTE or Ford Tickford Experience was launched. Under this banner of FTE, the most acclaimed T-series
was introduced. When the sales were not satisfying, Ford
Australia decided to give a makeover to FTE and renamed it as
FPV. Under this banner Ford Australia launched BA Falcon, the
all new revised version of the earlier Falcon, in 2002. This
model proved to be a big hit and the sales rose high.

Ford Australia is a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, Canada. It was established in the year 1926 at Geelong Victoria. The company is well known for its Falcon model in Australia. Falcon was originally a U.S. model which was introduced in the Australian market in 1960. In 1970, Ford Australia started designing its own range of Falcon models. Ford Australia was the first company to introduce the concept of Ute's. Ute's are basically utility vehicles designed to carry passengers as well as load. The company has set up a Ford Discovery Centre in Geelong. It is a museum of the companies history in Australia.
